I grew up in NSB and have been enjoying Mon Delice pastries and goodies for over 25 years. Now that I live thousands of miles away, I don't get there as often as I would like, but when I am in town, this is a MUST SEE! I was able to go to Paris a few years ago, and I was so pleasantly surprised to find the pastries there were very comparable to my old hometown. DIVINE!! If you haven't stopped in yet...don't miss it!

I started coming to this bakery over 25 years ago..My mom and I would stop and get subs either after the beach or for lunch and then take home some pastries. The napolean is the best...My mom was a big fan of the subs, me too for that matter..the bread is amazing but choices ar elimited but after all its not burger king...My mom even ordered my nieces first bday cake from here (over 25 years ago) with the best whipped cream topping...My grandson will be visiting Florida next weekend and grandma will follow in her mothers footsteps and introduce him to the best subs, and then we will share some greata cookies, cake, pie, and of coourse the napolean...who knows his first bday is next Sunday, maybe he will share the delight of his first cake with whiped cream topping....

Delicious breakfast sandwiches on brioche bread. Danish, cinnamon rolls, and chocolate croissants are top notch, authentic French pastries. Wonderful baguettes. Try the key lime pie or tarts. Amazing!

C'est manifique! When the person making the food doesn't have English as his first language, the food is probably good, and it is - a real Frenchman. French bread for the sandwiches is soft on the inside and crusty on the outside - as it is supposed to be. And the pastries are yummy goodness. I especially like the chocolate frombois.

Good stuff. Decent coffee and baked goods that don't look somewhat different and taste exactly the same as many bakeries today. Was surprised to see that Mon Delice French Bakery opens at 8:00 AM on weekdays. How do you sell coffee and etc to commuters if you open at 8:00 AM? Anyway, I waited in the parking lot for them to open one morning. Which says enough ...

Best bet in NSB. I live in Orlando so NSB is usually the closest beach town to us. I'm not a fan of all the restaurants on the island, honestly this is the best bang for your buck. We usually stop by and pick up a box of pastries, and head out to the beach with some coffee. My children really enjoy their subs, and since they don't eat seafood it a great cheap meal for them. The best is buying the french bread when it's hot. Trust me you can eat the whole loaf in the parking lot!

Normally this place is all raves, but we just ordered our holiday pies from them and were so disappointed a couple of us wanted to take them back! The Key Lime tasted terrible - like there wasn't any lime in there at all - just brutal. The others were very subpar as well...I may be back but will stay away from their pies for sure....

I have to start by saying that having grown up in a French/Belgian pastry shop I am extremely critical when it comes to other pastry/bakery establishments. Mon Delice gets high marks for the breads and not bad marks for the pastries. The real improvement needs to come with the sandwiches. The meats are fairly tasty but add some more cheese selections and please please get rid of the tacky and tastless shredded lettuce! A nice piece of green leaf will do wonders for the presentation and taste of the sandwich. So while this isn't the best overall it's good enough that I usually stop by when in town.

Good breakfast sandwich and pastries. Contra their web site, there is no seating. So don't plan on eating on site unless in your car.

This my husband's favorite place since he was little and he took me there when we were dating and now we take our kids there every chance we get. Try the meringue with chocolate buttercream. It's...it's beautiful.

(07/30/2010) We've been coming here over 20 years, it's a fave stop on the way to the beach to pick up some freshly made subs on a chewy French roll and a few pastries. Love the bread and the dressing, always hits the spot. Sweets are not too sweet, and appeal to a more sophisticated palate than any other commercial bakery in town.

If you're in the NSB area...you HAVE to stop in here!!! Get there early though cause they sell out on a daily basis. I LOVE THE NAPOLEAN!!! I get it pretty much every time I go. Also, the keylime white chocolate cookies are amazing! I crave them...so light and delectable at the same time. Their breads are really good. I've had a few sandwiches and they have all been awesome! It's a great place to stop in and just relish the delights of a bakery. The people that work there are very helpful and very nice. Like I said, It's a must to stop in when you're in the area!!!!

We stopped by to check them out since my daughter got excited when I said I saw a French Bakery. We had just eaten, so we got a couple of things. My Francophile daughter got "The best chocolate croissant ever." and I split a piece of the Flan cheesecake, which was also very good. I highly recommend.

i love love love this place... the bread is to die for. i've been going to this place since i was 5 years old. i love the pastries too! the custard eclaire.... soooo delicioso... oh and the key lime tart! mmmm.. the only thing i'd change is more toppings for the subs and also i wish their was at least a table or two to sit at.

  • Rachel D.

Amazing! There is nothing like this anywhere anymore! Totally authentic desserts, breads and pastries. The Ham and Cheese Quiche is the BEST I have ever tasted - I would drive an hour from Jacksonville every weekend just for a taste of the Quiche and Chocolate Croissant! A must eat...

A tremendous sub. The roast beef, provolone, lettuce, mayo and secret dressing sandwich on their AMAZING sub roll is the best Ive ever eaten. I always buy two when Im fortunate enough to make it in. I cant say enough positive things about the quality of their sandwich bread. Its an A plus and better than anything Ive come across in New York.

  • Tracy A.

We got sandwiches here for lunch on our second day at the condo. The choice of toppings was disappointingly lacking. They had shredded iceberg as lettuce, packets of mustard and mayo, and one of the favorite quotes of the week was when Ginger declared, "They only have provolone?" Yes, they only have provolone. The bread was good but the sandwich as a whole was below average. The only thing that saves this review is the french pastries. We got a selection of them to share for dessert and they were divine! Go for the pastries and pass on the sandwich. That is what I came away with.

We went to Mon Delice for breakfast every morning that we were at the beach. The bread is unexplainable, it's so delicious. And the coffee drinks are strong and tasty. Despite the lack of topping choices, I found the subs to be quite satisfying because the secret dressing gave it so much flavor. I also really like supporting local business, especially locals that do it right!

  • Heather M.

In defense of subs... (don't let other reviewers spoil your lunch) If you go to NSB Mon Delice is a MUST stop for breakfast and lunch! Clear your mind of any preconcieved notions of what a sandwich is suppossed to be and try to think back to your last trip to France and what a sandwich would be there (bread, butter or mayo, ham, and cheese- no lettuce, no toppings- no subway style buffet of stuff to cover-up the lack of freshness). Note** If you have never been to France you need to trust me.. or rather the owners of the bakery. Sandwiches are supppossed to be simple and delicious. Mon Delice Subs have the freshest, tastiest french bread in the USA with your choice of meat and/or cheese. Yes... it is only 1 type of chesse... but you really won't care because they are so fantastic tasting! Lettuce, Mustard, mayo is provided to help appease the american appetite who can't overcome the lack of toppings concept, but honestly it is more than you need to enjoy the sub. Don't skip on the chef's special vinagrette dressing. These subs are more than you'ld get in france but not too much to make them Americanized, fast food, sandwich crap! If you prefer ask for yours on a croissant instead of french bread. To top if off you can't get a scrumptous, homemade french pastry with your "subway" sub. The pastries (breakfast and dessert) are delicious. Take some home for the fridge for later! Also, consider ordering cakes or goodies ahead of time for special occasions. You'll be glad you went and will likely rearrange the rest of your trip to go back everyday!

I go to Mon Delice all the time when I'm vacationing in NSB. They have the most delicious pastries, cakes, & breads, much better than the chain bakeries. Also, I like that I can call ahead and reserve my order for pick-up.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm what a yummy treat, I LOVE this bakery! My dad lives in Flagler and when he comes down he always stops in and he''s not a pastry guy! He was working down here with a friend one day and they got cinnamon rolls and the friend a few weeks later remarked that he was still dreaming of the taste.... I think it may be the best American bakery I have ever encountered (Europe is different as is the climate for baking)... delicious!!

  • Tirzah H.

Had the distinct pleasure of stopping in to Mon Delice today to pick up lunch for myself and two co-workers. We all had the Ham and Brie sandwich, which was divine. Bread was delicious and the brie was as good as the fresh brie I had in France. Had a chocolate croissant, as well, which--like a previous poster noted-- was a little odd as the filling was much more like pudding than the usual melted hard chocolate in traditional chocolate croissants, but I will definitely be back to try some of the other delicious looking treats :) Service was fast and friendly, as well!

A trip to New Smyrna Beach would not be complete without multiple trips to Mon Delice for pastries, croissants and subs. Simply the best!

  • Brittany G.

This place is incredible. I want to try everything in the store! We had a pressed roast beef sub and a regular turkey sub, and all of the ingredients worked in harmony to make such a great lunchtime sandwich. Very affordable lunch ($6) and they advertised a breakfast sandwich with coffee for $3.50. Plus, the pastries are so sweet and decadent. This is my first visit here, but it most certainly will not be my last.

What a fabulous bakery! We are in love with this place. The croissants, cookies, sandwiches are exceptional. So are the classic breads and pastries.

J'aime beaucoup! A simplistic French Bakery with a friendly staff who are very attentive if they take your order they prepare your order. Yes I understand that we are a country of choices and we want it all on our subs but sometimes simple is okay too. This is no Subway, its a specialty bakery that's serves crafted subs. I ordered the "super" ham, turkey, salami and provolone with shredded lettuce and their fantastic oil based dressing on a fresh French baguette that was crusty on the outside and soft and delightful on the inside. Simple yes but exceptionally simple. The cases are filled with pastries, cakes, lots of specialty items the back wall is stocked with fresh breads baked daily. NSB is fortunate to have this level of bakery and by the traffic in and out of here the locals and tourist alike love this place. As for the other positive reviews. Vous avez tout à fait raison c'est tout.

Every time we are in town, Mon Delice, is a must stop. We love to walk over early in the morning. The Napoleon is delicious. We also love the snowball and custard eclairs. I don't think we've tried one pastry we didn't like.

This simple French bakery, located in New Smyrna Beach, has served up French flavor since 1976. The owner (Serge Sorese) grew up in the Provence Region of Southern France, so you know every ingredient is authentic! The all-time hands down winner here is the Whipped Cream Éclair. It's filled with whipped cream and topped with a smooth chocolate fondant. The éclairs are so good that a friend of mine brings a cooler with her every beach trip just to stock up on éclairs to take home. At first I thought she was crazy, but it's actually pretty genius! And if you're looking for the world's best lunch, try their self-proclaimed "unforgettable" Crusty French Subs and finish your meal with a Key Lime & White Chocolate Chip Cookie. It's paradise on a plate.

Incredible pastries and fast, friendly service. This is a MUST VISIT every time we are in the New Smyrna area. We especially like the raspberry delice pastry and ALL of their incredible subs. Try it once and you'll be hooked!

Don't go here unless you have a lot of time to waste. We couldn't get someone to help us because there were 5 people in the back making pastries and 2 girls up front helping customers. Three different lines formed at the entrance but no one knew which line was the correct line. Then some guy walks up to a 'walk up window', rings the bell and gets served ahead of the 10 of us who were waiting. We walked out- I don't care how good your pastries are, learn some customer service!!!

  • Kelly H.

Stil delicious after all this time. The sandwiches were fantastic and the bakery items were fantastic. Definitely a bakery to eat at. I would highly reccomend the delicious chocolate covered cookies that are an amazing delite as they are filled with a chocolate filling that is to die for. So many yummy things- definitely a must hit before you hit the beach.

I have been a customer for many years, each time I am in the area I stop to pick up genuine French food, pastries, cakes or pies. The crusty baguettes with a soft inside, the sweet napoleons and eclairs, the freshly baked moist cakes, one cannot go wrong with anything. The chef is creative as well with other menu items, it's worth experiencing it all!

  • King L.

Haven't tried anything but the French bread. The French bread was like waking up in France. I don't know of any place in the Orlando area that you can get a French bread this authentic. (Sorry Publix not even close) The experience is heavenly and if they don't do a single other thing well the 5 star rating is warranted. The place looks clean and smells great. It is something I will do every morning in New Smyrna. ** Update** Chocolate croissant tried today and is not good. The pastry if fine but whatever they use in the middle is too prevalent, low quality and does not provide a real chocolate taste. Still five stars because of the French bread.

A group of us dropped in for breakfast one morning before we headed down to the beach. We all got breakfast sandwiches and split a cream cheese pastry. First of all, I was a little upset that they couldn't give me turkey meat on my sandwich instead of sausage or ham. I don't eat pork, so that left me with a basic egg and cheese sandwich. It was only okay. The eggs didn't taste fresh and there wasn't quite as much cheese as I would like. The whole thing was a little puny. The pastry we all had bites of was good. The filling wasn't too sweet and the crust was nice and flaky. The real kicker was the bad review someone posted on the bakery's Facebook page THAT THE BAKERY THEN HUNG ON THE WALL FOR EVERYONE TO SEE. Reading the review, it looked like she had some legit concerns: burned pastry and not enough meat on the sandwich. And not only did they hang it up in a big glass box in the middle of the restaurant, they included quotes about stupidity that were extremely insulting. Basically calling the reviewer an idiot for voicing her opinions. Whether the pastries were good or not, I don't appreciate that kind of name calling or immature behavior. I would hope that, if I had a problem with my order, the business would be apologetic and make efforts to make the problem right...not publicly shame me in their location. Based on that alone, I won't be coming back here. You can go ahead and post this review on your wall as well.

Got several items. Cheesecake is excellent. All the bakery items are good quite frankly. Go here when in NSB for sweets!

This place has suffered a full 2-star drop in recent years. In it's prime with the original owners, it was a full 5-stars. Everything was remarkable. Unfortunately, the standards have some what fallen. Is it still good? Sure, it's better than donuts but lacks the true quality it once was known for. The pastries: The selection is still the same. The cheese and prune are still decent and flaky but the chocolate croissant is no longer flaky but more bread-like. The chocolate filling tasted like box pudding. Clearly, lesser ingredients are in play here and it shows. The breads are still dynamite though. The subs. Now, they have several varieties but I have only ever ordered The Super. Get it and get them often.

  • Catherine R.

Omg every time I go to the beach here I pitstop and grab pastries. They are sooo good. I've had 4 of their french pastries now and every one was awesome. I haven't tried any of their breakfast stuff yet but I have had their sandwiches also and they are really good. Not a super cheap place but whatever man the food is worth it.

Fanastic Subs. Ordered a Christmas Log for the holidays which was delicious Apple pie was to die for. Wish this were in my hometown!! Fresh made wheat bread a must.

I decided to try this place out after reading all the glowing reviews. My basis for comparison are authentic French bakeries in Paris, Montreal, New York City. What do the best french bakeries all have in common? Presentation and quality. You walk into the store and the presentation of the bread, pastries, and sandwiches etc.. make you think wow where do I start. Anyway, that is where Mon Delice falls short. The exterior and interior of the store look pretty dated and spartan and the presentation of the breads and pastries did not impress me. I tried the Super ham turkey salami sandwich and thought it was okay. But I could probably make something at home using bread, meats and cheeses from Publix and match the quality.

You have to meet Serge. Very nice and very knowledgable about anything French. Grab a picnic basket and head to the CO beach. 8-)

My plant based diet goes out the window when I come to NSB. The french bread turkey and provolone sub with their typical fixings is heavenly. It's so light and delicious sometimes I wish I had 2 subs instead of 1! Mon Delice offers amazing subs and pastries. If you are used to Subway or super sizing anything than you might feel this place is too bare bones and does not have enough options. However, the less is more approach allows one to truly savor the amazing flavors that their creations evoke. I'm thankful that Mon Delice has stayed true to what they do. There are so many of us that have frequented this delightful bakery our whole lives. May it always be so.

I've tried a bunch of different things pastries and sandwiches. Everything is ok..not bad but not something that I have to have.

  • Debra C.

Subs are wonderful, pastries are even better! Tried an Almondine. Pie crust with filling and glazed almond topping. Thin hint of raspberry inside. Only problem...where will I be able to get these when I return up North?? Awesome!!!

  • Sarah R.

This place is heaven when it comes to sweets and their breakfast sandwiches are fantastic but I was less than impressed with their subs when I tried them. Their pastries are the best I have ever had, my favorite being the danishes. Their breakfast sandwiches are very hardy and served up on a delicious pressed brioche bun. However their subs, although they consist of quality ingredients, are severely lacking in both variety and portion size.

    (4)
  • Kay B.

Average pastries, nothing special. Service is extremely slow so don't expect to pop in and out with any degree of efficiency or speed.

  • D S.

My third visit. The chocolate tart did not seem fresh. The chocolate was "tough" in a way chocolate should not be. The staff is still tops--attentive and kind. I am a little less excited about going back here. After my previous two visits, I was excited to return one day. Now, I could take it or leave it.

    (3)
  • Jim A.

You have to admire their commitment to individual service, but you have to wonder at the pathetically slow service. Many customers just walk out. No one seems to care. Good place but not keeping up with the times. Better bread at farmers market from Swiss guy across the street on Saturday mornings. Too much success?

    (2)
  • Lynn B.

What can I say, Its just NOT what it used to be, With the Original owners- not even close. Back then it was on the other side of the road up the street towards the beach. Back then there were only 2 ways to get to "Smyrna" from Central Northern Central Florida; l- I-4 and Osteen Rd. The only thing I found that was the Original, was the name. By Far not A Lamar Donut, or Even Close to my Bubbe's pÄ…czki.

Both their pressed sub sandwiches and quiche are amazing. Quick friendly service and reasonably prices. We will definitely be returning.

  • Nick J.

Fantastic sandwiches -- get the Super (ham, turkey, salami, provolone, vinaigrette sub dressing) which comes on fresh baked mini baguette. I'm a big believer that great bread = great sandwiches, and this place sure understands that. Slightly crispy outside, super soft inside, this bread is amazing and makes a delicious sandwich. If you're headed to the beach for the day, I HIGHLY recommend avoiding the many fast food options on the way in and stop into Mon Delice for a fresh sandwich instead, you will not regret it. Also - fresh baked pastries are nice little bonus to pick up for post-sandwich munching. Try the Neapolitan.

  • Anita L.

Glad to have found this place. It's a nice establishment and has pretty solid food. We ordered a couple of pastries, and most of them were fantastic: Napoleon -The best in my opinion. Dreamy creamy pastry cream between two flaky layers, yummm. Messy to eat but worth it. Raspberry delice - The boy's favorite. Raspberry jam in a pastry with whipped cream on top. Reminded him of a good donut. Apple tart - Solid. Fresh apples and great pie crust. Eclair - Solid as well. Nothing extraordinary here, just a good simple eclair. Almond croissant - Very nice for breakfast. Seemed like almond jam in the middle. Now why the one star off? We also got the madeleines packed in plastic baggies (are these day old or something?). First off, they were HUGE. Engorged and thicker than any madeleine I've seen. Unfortunately, they were huge and dry and tasted like plastic bag. Blech. So disappointing. No semblance of buttery goodness at all. Also got the sugar cookies (meh) and coconut macaroons (good!). My only gripe is why make macaroons and not French macarons?

    Amazing subs and pastries!

  • Alex C.

As far as pastries go, this is a 5-star venue. The danishes are amazing. The desert items are extensive and super tasty. The coffee and espresso is average. The place could use seating and a warmer atmosphere... there is ample space inside and outside but no seating whatsoever. We went here for both breakfast and lunch. For breakfast, we tried the new breakfast sandwich, which was pretty good except it didn't taste like it had a real fried egg on it. We also ordered the eclair which was excellent, and a danish - they have about 7 options... the strawberry and cheese was a solid choice. We tried the quiche, which wasn't that great... there was too much breading/base on it and not enough egg. For lunch we ordered two sandwiches... both of which were mediocre. There was way too much bread on the sandwiches and not enough meat and cheese. Also, the options are limited for sandwiches (only one type of cheese, for example). I am certainly going back here for the pastries and desert items!

Mons Delice is a must stop when in NSB, in fact when I'm in NSB I usually go there twice per day - once for breakfast and once for lunch. And I load up on pastries both times. The breakfast sandwiches and coffee are very good but the subs are incredible. The pastries are all great too - my favorites are the Napoleons and the custard eclairs, but everything in the case is very good.

    (5)
  • Ashley H.

My wife and I discovered this bakery a few months ago and haven't been disappointed yet. The eclairs are our favorite as they are very light and tasty, not a heavy dessert that stays with you for a while. We have yet to try any of the sandwiches or subs, so that's something else to look forward to. The one thing we absolutely love is getting Brioche bread here. You generally have to put in a request the day before you need it because they generally only make 2 loaves each day and they go fast. This is the yummiest, tastiest, sweet, nectar of the Gods bread that we've found. We've used it before (and will again tomorrow) for making breakfast stratas and it's awesome. We also put it with a beef stew and the two together were out of this world. We highly recommend trying this bread!!

  • Barry K.

Food is great. Service is slower than slow. It must be a French thing. If the service was quicker, we would stop more frequently. Even during slow season in NSB! The service is slow.

Make this your first stop in New Smyrna Beach! Unless, of course, you're stopping for beer, first. Their sandwiches are really fresh and full of meat and cheese. They are perfect for the beach and fantastic bargain at $5.99. Pretty authentic french bakery complete with a french baker behind the counter. Enjoy!

So I wanted to catch this place for breakfast while I was in town, especially seeing as I was about three blocks away. Well, we headed instead over to the bagel joint, but they were on vaca. Nice. So, three croissants , and almond croissant, some other goodies later we were headed home to make some eggs and drink some coffee. These were good croissants, and I applaud them just for being a damn good bakery. That in itself is worth going to this place. Publix in my town does a damn serious croissant as well, but you should support the little guy first, IMO. The next day we had a super, and the star of that sammich, again was the bread. WOW. If I had known that little baguette was gonna be that good, I would have asked for butter on it, and just held everything else. So the take away here is the Baked goods. They are tasty and reasonably priced. The girls working within were a little less than, umm, outgoing. They did there jobs, and answered questioned, so really nothing to complain about, just like seeing folks smile when they work i guess.

My husband was craving an almond croissant. Much to my surprise, new smyrna beach actually has a french bakery. Lucky me! Unfortunately, this is a french bakery in name only. Square almond croissants? I have had almond croissants all over the world - including paris - and I have never once encountered a square almond croissant! Okay, fine, it is not a crescent croissant, at least the flavor will be as expected, correct? No. There were no sliced almonds on top, no powdered sugar, and the almond paste was a dense, gelatinous, synthetic-tasting mess. Chocolate croissant and strawberry cream cheese danish were also forgettable. I am giving this place an extra half star because my husband enjoyed the cinammon roll I purchased as a plan b. Sorry, but not a five-star french patisserie. above average for new smyrna beach, I suppose.

  • Meg G.

For all the good reviews on this place, i was kinda bummed by the selection. I guess I was expecting more variety. My husband and I both got the "Super" sub. We also got a chocolate croissant, and a strawberry cream cheese croissant. Sandwich was pretty yummy. The baguette was near perfect, the cheese and meats were sliced well, and the mustard was awesome. Not really sure why they put the "special" dressing on it..it was good, but i felt unnecessary. The pastries were ok.. We both agreed that we had tasted better. Especially the strawberry cream cheese one. All in all, it was a good lunch for a post 20-mile run pig out at the beach. At first i was a bit dismayed that there was no seating in the bakery, but it just encouraged us to take our lunch home and enjoy it as a delicious little picnic on a beautiful day in New Smyrna Beach.
